Local Efforts for Substance Use Disorder Treatment

STOP Court

Multnomah County Sanctions Treatment Opportunities Progress (STOP) Drug Court has been operating since 1991 for most people charged in Multnomah County with a felony drug possession crime. STOP Court aims to significantly reduce drug abuse within the community, and has succeeded in assisting in the reduction of harm from use of controlled substances as well as reducing recidivism rates. After the passage of HB 3194 during the 2013 Oregon Legislative session and subsequent implementation of the Treatment First Program, STOP Court has since been reserved for individual offenders with the highest risk/need.
