Naloxone is a medication that can quickly reverse a heroin or prescription opioid overdose. Get naloxone.

- Keep naloxone on-hand and readily accessible
- Ensure friends and family have access to naloxone and that they know how and when to use it
- Do not drink alcohol or take non-prescribed drugs while taking opioids
- Take only the prescribed amount as directed by a doctor
- Ask your doctor before taking any new medications

- Try not to mix drugs or drink alcohol
- If you have not used in a while, keep in mind that your tolerance will have decreased. Start with less than you would usually use. Consider using a test dose
