Naloxone

Naloxone is a medication that can quickly reverse a heroin or prescription opioid overdose. Get naloxone.

Prescription Drug Overdose Prevention

  • Keep naloxone on-hand and readily accessible
  • Ensure friends and family have access to naloxone and that they know how and when to use it
  • Do not drink alcohol or take non-prescribed drugs while taking opioids
  • Take only the prescribed amount as directed by a doctor
  • Ask your doctor before taking any new medications

Injection Drug Overdose Prevention

  • Keep naloxone on-hand and readily accessible
  • Do not use alone
  • Try not to mix drugs or drink alcohol
  • If you have not used in a while, keep in mind that your tolerance will have decreased. Start with less than you would usually use. Consider using a test dose
  • Also use a test dose if using a new drug
