Local Efforts for Naloxone & Overdose Prevention

Post-Release Overdose Prevention (PROP)

Multnomah County Health Department’s Post Release Overdose Prevention (PROP) project is bringing together community, public health, public safety, treatment, Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), and community-based organizations to address the high risk of overdose after release from jail. They will initially conduct an assessment to identify overdose risks and protective factors among people released from jail in Multnomah County. This assessment will include key informant and community member interviews as well as analysis of data from multiple sources such as jails, PDMP, medical examiner, emergency response, community justice, courts, and syringe exchange programs. Results from assessment will be used to guide development and implementation of an intervention to reduce overdoses among people released from jail.
